Ion, Ionian - Sanskrit Suffix aayan, aayanaa
Sanskrit "aayaN" in RamaayaN means (story) following of "rama".
Sanskrit "aayanaa" or "aainaa" is mirror, the reflection follows you.
English suffix "ion" or "ionion" mean the same.
